Dora Indresano- Headteacher at Northumberland Heath Primary School

What attracted you to Woodland Academy Trust?

The Woodland Academy Trust is a trust that is values driven and wants the best for the children and communities it serves. The trust is growing from strength to strength, and this excites me, to be part of an organisation that you can help build and prosper. I love a challenge and the Woodland Academy Trust has given me a new challenge at this stage of my career as an experienced Headteacher.

Why did you want to become a Headteacher?

I always wanted to become a teacher from a very young age and knew that this was my calling. I never once thought about becoming a Headteacher until I became an acting Headteacher in a previous academy. This inspired me to continue the journey and now, having been a Headteacher in 4 schools and seeing how we can make that difference to our children and families, I cannot imagine doing anything else. I love seeing schools thrive and become the hub of the local community.

What three things bring you most joy about your role?

1. Seeing the children learn and thrive every day knowing that we are making their life chances better through boundaries, care and love.

2. I love that no two days are the same. The children and staff at Northumberland Heath Primary bring something new, different, and exciting every day.

3. I love being part of a school and community that is making progress all the time. Northumberland Heath has so much potential and this excites me, knowing that we can make a difference.

What does school community mean to you and which aspects of your school community are you most proud of?

Northumberland Heath is a diverse community and I love this. Every child brings something unique to the school, which we celebrate.

We are building links with the community and working in collaboration. We are giving our children opportunities they may not have access to. We are building parental engagement and providing more opportunities for parents to be a part of school life. We want our children and families to have a sense of belonging and we are building our curriculum to reflect our community.

The children are proud of our school, and we want them to feel part of the Northumberland Heath family now and long after they have left us.
