AI Assessment and Practice – A Focus on Impact

STEM Community Live AI Sprints Season 2 E4 - AI Assessment and Practices: a focus on impact

Our Director of Education, Julie Carson, was a featured guest on STEM Community Live: AI Sprints Season 2, Episode 4, contributing to a national discussion on assessment, academic integrity and the responsible use of AI in education.

The episode explores assessment and feedback in light of the Curriculum and Assessment Review (CAR), asking what “evolution, not revolution” means for exams, coursework, KS2 writing, Year 8 diagnostics and SEND provision in an AI-enabled era.

Julie shares practical insights from our trust-wide AI co-planning project, including:

  • Establishing clear expectations for AI use.
  • Protecting academic integrity without creating a culture of suspicion.
  • Developing digital metacognition in pupils.
  • Embedding inclusive classroom practice supported by carefully approved AI tools.

This discussion reflects our commitment to contributing to national dialogue and ensuring AI enhances inclusion, integrity and high-quality teaching.
